Credit Card companies charge an annual fee to credit card holders. Charges are varies for each company. Some ranging from RM90-RM120 per annum others as high as RM500 (Platinum Card).

Recently for the past 2 years (2008 & 2009) I been calling and request for Credit Card Annual Fee Waived. Too my amazement I’ve got all my Credit Card Annual Fee Waived.

Tips on Requesting Credit Card Annual Fee Waived.

Check your statement or simply call Customer Service to know when your Credit Card Annual Fee is Due. If its already charged just make a request then it will be waived on your next month statement.

Call Customer Service. ( number at the back of your Credit Card)

1.	Be Polite – This is a request not an order.
2.	Call Customer Service – “My name is xxx I want to request Credit Card Annual Fee Waived”. ( Pengecualian Bayaran Yuran Tahunan Kad Kredit )
3. There will be ask for confirmation. ( Name, DOB, etc )
4.	Usually it’s end with “We have submit your request for Credit Card Annual Fee Waived” ( Thanks the person and end the conversation)

Customer Service Personal is not authorized to give Credit Card Annual Fee Waived. But once you have requested then someone will. I usually have my Credit Card Annual Fee Waived on the next month statement.

Past experience I have manage to get Credit Card Annual Fee Waived from Citibank, HSBC and RHB.

This method is not 100% guaranteed but you can always try. It’s just a phone away.

Feel free to give us a feedback on your request experience. Thanks

Let me play the devil’s advocate and say that even though this seems to hurt the consumers in the short run, in the longer run this is a better approach.

Credit Cards Malaysia Budget 2010

Consumption fueled by credit is neither healthy nor growth oriented. Look what it did to the US. Yes credit cards are convenient but you don’t really need more than 2 (a Visa and Mastercard possibly an Amex if you are frequent business traveler which can be charged to business).
This is not targeted to consumers like you but to lower income groups who end up getting snared in the debt and these are usually the people least able to afford the high interest and fees.
As for the cashbacks and freebies, please remember you are implicitly paying for it in the retail price. Banks charge anywhere from 2-3% of the retail price as merchant chargeback fees. Go and buy anything in Plaza Low Yat and try paying by Card and they will immediately ask for 3% extra. This happens in Sim Lin Square also despite the fact that it is illegal in Singapore to discriminate between cards and cash. You are paying for the convenience it’s just hidden from you.
The banks extract a lot from us especially from less savvy, or financially constrained consumers and even though this is a blunt instrument by the Govt., it is better than nothing.

Over at personal finance weblog Get Rich Slowly, guest writer April Dykman explains how she curbs unnecessary spending with the flowchart you see here. It’s a simple process that hinges on cost (”Can I afford it?”), need (”Is it something I need or lack?”), and quality (”Is there a less expensive/high quality option?”), and if you were to stick to this flowchart for all your purchases, chances are you’d make considerably fewer regrettable impulse buys.

Let’s look at how this would work using my cooktop example:

First, we’d ask ourselves whether we can afford it. Technically, yes, we could.

Is it something we need? Yes, our house will need a cooktop of some sort.

Is there a less expensive option? Yes, a standard range is much less expensive.

Is the alternative durable? Yes, there are durable ranges. (We researched Consumer Reports articles on ranges for their top picks.)

I know we’ll want a few nicer features in our home, but it’s important that our spending decisions are made consciously. Even it’s a small purchases and you do it frequently things will accumulate quickly. The only way to combat this is to be conscious of what we buy — and why we are buying it.

I would prefer the use would be to clear credit card balance with it’s lowest interest rate at 3.5%.

Here are the details:

Lowest Interest Rate of 3.5%

Up to RM 150,000

Up to 15 year term

No Guarantor (tanpa penjamin)

24hours approval ( belum cuba belum tahu )

As a start a few documents needed as below:

Application form completed ( Borang permohonan lengkap )

2 MyKad photocopy

3 months original payslip ( slip gaji asal)

Employer verification ( pengesahan jawatan dari majikan )

Well who those got blacklist or want “ senang lulus blacklist “ , “ CCRIS CTOS sangkut” you may get loan from other financial agency. Bank Rakyat most of the time choose ANGKASA monthly salary deduction which is most preferred.

Their tagline.. “Boleh menyelesaikan pinjaman sedia ada dengan mana mana institusi kewangan yang lain”

Really tempted on its lowest interest and 15 years terms. I’m lovin it

Student Loans or Education loan can help you in college or varsity education is not as cheap as last time. There might have students who are paying fees for their study under loads of debts. Once you graduate, they might find it difficult to payback the payments.

When you are in college or university, it is possible that you would have many choices to take different college loans with different interest rates. From there, you can choose for refinance because you can get a lower interest rate loans.

Tips: Refinancing the student loan can help you lower down the entire cost of your loan.

Mostly, every country’s governments won’t charge the interest on student loans until after they have completed their studies.

Available options

PTPTN loan: most of the time it’s very easy to get 100% loan and only started charging interest after six month of graduation.

Get your parents or guardian to apply for Personal Loan from banks. Try getting an Islamic loan which have fixed interest rate.
Tips: Once you started working, repay your loan as fast as possible to get loan rebate

For Bumiputera: Approach MARA getting loan or even better scholarship. (3rd floor MARA Building)

FAMA (Father & Mother) loan

If still could not find any, try work part time casher or internet marketeers hopefully enough to fund your education.

A friend of mine applied PTPTN loan and they only started charge you interest after six months of graduation. This mean that you enjoy interest free from that time you applied the loan till after six months you leave school – Great!!

Nonetheless, we need to know the student loans benefits or traps in order to help you understand your responsibilities and avoid financial burden in the future.

Googling for student loan or scholarship and I found a useful list for Pharmacy student. Unlike other popular program such as Engineering and Accounting, pharmacy student facing difficulties in getting student loan or scholarship simply because the number of scholarship provider is very few.

Anyway, try to approach any of these company for scholarship :

- Pfizer Scholarship
- Guardian Pharmacy Scholarship
- Sanofi Winthrop Scholarship
- Glaxo Welcome Scholarship
- Chemical Company of Malaysia (CCM) Scholarship
- Y S & Lin Scholarship
- JC Chemist

Amanah Saham 1Malaysia buzz over the pass week will be opened for public subscription from 5th Aug - 3rd Sept 2009. During the offer period of 30 days, the AS 1Malaysia funds will not incur any sale charges(Free sale charges).

Another good thing is the investment is FREE to university student starting year 2009 – 2010. This is very encouraging to start investing for younger generation especially students.

Here are the facts on Amanah Saham 1Malaysia (AS1M) I gathered:

AS1M funds will be invest into Malaysian company with a yield of 3% – 4% yearly

PNB has other bigger funds like ASB with RM 62 billion of capital investment

Capital guarantee which is NOT. AS1M is a Capital Protected Fund.
A capital protected fund is one whose primary objective is to protect and return investors’ capital at a pre-determined date in the future.

Fixed price of RM1 per unit like ASB/ ASW/ ASM / ASW2020

Still using the same with other ASNB funds investment

Investment counter can be from Maybank, CIMB, RHB and Pos Malaysia (open earlier compared to banks)

Tips: Try to get the forms early and the next day go for AS1M account creation

RM10bil AS 1Malaysia would be open to all Malaysians aged 18 years and above

Minimum initial investment is 100 (total RM100) units and the minimum additional investment is one unit.

Some varsities student 50000 of are getting free 100 units

For university student don’t forget to get this free ASNB type investment.

(bukan selalu nak dapat offer free nih)
